What I Learned in February

Wednesday, March 7, 2018

How is February over? I can't seem to keep up with the days let alone the weeks and months. So before March is halfway over, I thought I better write about what I learned in February.

Slow down...

Slowing down helps me to find joy and gratitude. My mind wanders constantly. I feel like I am always rushing to get from one place to the next. When I am not hurrying, but instead living slowly in the moment, I feel more calm and present, and I am more likely to appreciate what is and feel joy. I wrote about a splendid day of slowing down in Snow Day. It was such a beautiful day to just be.

Some (Favorite) Things from the Week (2.11.18)

Sunday, February 25, 2018

Okay, so I am way, way behind on writing up some of my favorite things from the week (not just from this past week, but from the week before too!). Welcome to my life right now. Things feel crazy...I feel like I am getting nothing done, but I also feel like I don't stop running around doing stuff. I can't explain it...it's just an imperfect time right now. So here I am, writing about the week that is now almost two weeks old. But it's okay because life is imperfect. Beautifully imperfect.

What I Learned in January

Sunday, February 18, 2018

Even though January ended 18 days ago, I still wanted to reflect on what I learned. I created My Gratitude Project so that I could spend this year embracing the moments as they come, living completely in those moments, and appreciating all that I have. As part of this project, reflection is really important...even when it is late.

Some (Favorite) Things from the Week (2.4.18)

Sunday, February 11, 2018

I spent my Saturday night under a blanket surrounded by my books, sitting next to my husband by a cozy fire with my dog sleeping at my feet. One might say that we had a very hyggelig Saturday night. I learned this word from The Little Book of Hygge, and it basically means we had a delightfully cozy evening at home. And it was wonderful.

Snow Day

Friday, February 9, 2018

I love snow days. For me, they are the best part of winter. They are days when you get to stay in your cozy home with your loved ones (if you are lucky). They are days when you are forced to press the pause button, to take the day off, to slow down, and to just be.

Some Things from January

I can hardly believe that it is the beginning of February. We have one month down in 2018 already. Time just goes so fast. Too fast.

My Gratitude Project

Thursday, January 25, 2018

I discussed finding gratitude in sadness in my post two weeks ago, and so I thought I would pick up this next post continuing with the theme of gratitude. On January 1, I decided that my word for 2018 would be gratitude. As I talked about in my last post, in spite of the deep sadness that I have been feeling these past weeks, I have also felt this overwhelming sense of gratitude. When I am sad or disappointed, it is so easy for me to focus on all of the things that I don't have and to overlook all of the wonderful things that I do have. It felt like the right time in my life to pay attention to all that I have because I am so incredibly lucky in so many ways and for so many reasons.
